There is no truer statement as I found out for myself recently on my wonderful week in paradise. My awards prize last year was a trip to Tahiti courtesy of Air Tahiti, SPM resorts and Accor. A big thanks to all of you that supported me throughout the year that allowed me to experience this great destination. Like many others I had heard Tahiti is expensive so I braced myself. I was in fact surprised that the range of options meant it doesnt have to be, but of course if you wish to splurge the options are endless.

Air Tahiti - I experienced business class Auckland to Papeetee and economy on the return. The aircraft was fresh and when I boarded I was really impressed with the bright and amazing relaxed atmosphere. The staff were great and the inflight entertainment system in both economy and business class is top technology with HD resolution and ease of use. No surprises the cuisine in business class was largely seafood which I love, so no complaints there. However if you are not a seafood fan pays to let me know to inform the airline before you fly.

Intercontinetal Papeetee - on arrival the customs was very slow so does require a bit of patience however it was very short trip to the hotel 4 km from the airport. My overnight was at Intercontinental Tahiti Resort and Spa which is currently undergoing renovations that look really exciting. The staff were excellant and probably the best welcome out of all the resorts throughout my trip. I had a late checkin and the next morning enjoyed breakfast in the large Te Tiare restaurant. On the ground level the restaurant has an open kitchen and is the hub of the resort and caters very well to groups. I enjoy my breakfast overlooking the infinity pool out to Moorea in the distance my next stop!

I wee spot of shopping for supplies before catching my transfer and ferry out to Moorea.

Moorea Pearl Resort - located a 30 minite ride from the ferry it is located just outside and within walking distance of a small town. This means you have access to alternative dining options and a small supermarket. The resort is really well set out with a small beach and lovely littel bungalows. For families the family duplexes are a spilt level room which is great for the family to have their own space and are great value. I am in a garden pool villa which is a really good sized room and has a private outside area with a plunge pool. The main ppol area and restaurants are all in the same area so you can enjoy a meal and drink by the pool at anytime. The poolside bar serves light meals at a good cost and the main restaurant is where they serve breakfast and is open for lunch and dinner also.
